From Frozen to Free
Reach VR User Lindsay B.’s Success Story
When frozen shoulder struck, Lindsay B.’s world narrowed. Simple tasks like reaching up to a shelf or pulling on clothing became overwhelming. Lindsay tried traditional physical therapy (twice!), but the pain and lack of progress left her discouraged. Then, she discovered Reach VR, our breakthrough program that combines virtual reality and physical therapy oversight. Sixty days later, Lindsay’s story is one of progress, hope, and renewed confidence. Lindsay recently sat down with the Reach VR communications team to discuss her progress.
“At the beginning, I could barely lift my arm past my eyebrow,” Lindsay recalls. “Now, I can reach over my head. My movements feel more fluid, more natural—more like my other arm. That’s a huge change.”
Her physical therapist, Kelley Newsad, PT, confirms just how far she’s come. “Lindsay has gained nearly 50 degrees of motion in only two months,” Kelley told us. “She’s moved from the frozen stage into the thawing stage of recovery. That progress is significant, and it’s paired with more fluid, natural movement and less pain.”

Unlike earlier experiences in frozen shoulder recovery, Reach VR met Lindsay at her pace. The system intelligently adapts to her progress, challenging her with immersive experiences like the Firefly Assessment (designed to analyze range of motion), and immersive games like Power Pop! and Star Beams. “Seeing the improvement on the Dashboard and feeling it in my shoulder keeps me motivated,” Lindsay says. “Every day I put on the headset because I know I’m moving forward.”
Kelley adds that this motivation is critical for success: “Frozen shoulder is one of the toughest conditions to treat because recovery takes so long. Reach VR keeps patients engaged and encouraged during that process.”
For Lindsay, the results speak for themselves. She’s experiencing less pain, greater mobility, and a renewed sense of hope. “I’m grateful for the program,” she says. “I’ve seen real improvements, and I’ll keep using it as long as it helps me progress.” Lindsay’s journey is proof that recovery doesn’t have to mean “feeling stuck.” With Reach VR and guidance from her therapist, Lindsay turned her frustration into progress and regained freedom in her daily life.
